Salary Range: $68,247 – $72,404 annually (100% time); percent appointments may vary
Position Duration: Initial one-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal based on performance, programmatic needs, and available funding

Position Description
The Department of Asian American Studies at UC Santa Barbara invites applications for a Lecturer to teach a Community Studies 3-quarter course sequence:
- ASAM 11 (Fall)
- Two-quarter Seminar (Winter & Spring)
This sequence is taught in collaboration with other Ethnic Studies departments and integrates theory, fieldwork, and professional development. The course focuses on the historical, sociological, and political aspects of community-oriented programs for marginalized groups. Candidates should have experience engaging with underrepresented students and knowledge of local community-based organizations.
Reappointment is possible based on instructional need and performance.
Qualifications
Basic (Required at Time of Application):
- A Master’s degree in Asian American Studies, Ethnic Studies, Community Studies, or a related field
Additional (Required at Time of Start):
- At least one year of teaching experience
Preferred:
- Ph.D. in a related field
- Experience working with or in community-based organizations
- Experience teaching underrepresented minorities and managing inclusive classrooms
