The Department of Economics (http://www.ln.edu.hk/econ/) is a multi-cultural community of academics dedicated to excellence in teaching and research. Both of the two recent Research Assessment Exercises have rated Lingnan University’s Department of Economics among the top performers in research output in Hong Kong. Its undergraduate teaching is in the context of an inter-disciplinary social sciences programme, where students can opt for different discipline majors or interdisciplinary areas of interest. The Department also offers MPhil and PhD degrees in economics, as well as a taught programme of MSc in International Banking and Finance (MIBF) and Msc in International Development Economics (MIDE).

The Department invites applications for Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer specializing in any fields of economics and preference will be given to candidates who have taught the following course(s) before:

• The Making of Hong Kong
• Social and Economic Indicators
• Introduction to Banks and Financial Institutions
• Financial Information and Management
• Hong Kong Economy
• Introduction to Microeconomics
• Introduction to Statistics and Econometrics
• Urban Economics
• International Trade and Trade Policy

General Requirements

Applicants should (i) possess a Master / PhD degree in economics from a reputable university; (ii) be able to teach courses at undergraduate levels in economics fields effectively; and (iii) have at least 5-year experience in teaching undergraduate courses. Applicants should provide information about their work experience, qualifications and achievements.

The appointees will (a) teach courses at undergraduate levels; (b) assist in programme promotions; and (c) perform certain administrative duties as assigned by the Head of the Department.

Appointment

The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The rank and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointees.

Appointments will normally be made on contract basis for up to two years.
