Position Summary

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Georgia invites applications for a full-time lecturer for introductory physics instruction beginning August 1, 2026. This is a non-tenure track faculty position. The Department, which currently has 20 faculty members, has a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education. The person hired will teach five-six courses per academic year, primarily in the Department’s general physics programs, and will lead the development of a new introductory physics in the life sciences sequence.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to interact with teaching and learning initiatives on campus including the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence to Advance Teaching & Learning Cluster, the Scientists Engaged in Education Research Center, and the Artificial Intelligence for STEM Education Center.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in astronomy, physics, or a closely related field.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Candidates should show a commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level and demonstrate potential to enhance teaching pedagogy.
