- Teach courses in the assigned subject area;
- Prepare course syllabus and reports related to teaching and student progress;
- Assess student learning in terms of course competencies and program learning outcomes;
- Submit self-assessment reports based on student and peer evaluations;
- Work under the general supervision of the discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area;
- Maintain one office hour per week for each class taught (20 minutes per credit per week);
- Classes may be offered online, evenings and/or weekends.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Master's degree in a health-related field AND current certification as a Medical Assistant by a credentialing organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
OR
2. Baccalaureate degree in a health-related field PLUS 3 years healthcare experience including a minimum of 160 hours in an ambulatory healthcare AND current certification as a Medical Assistant by a credentialing organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
OR
3. Certification as a Medical Assistant; AND a Baccalaureate degree in any field PLUS 3 years healthcare experience including a minimum of 160 hours in an ambulatory healthcare setting AND current certification as a Medical Assistant by a credentialing organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
OR
4. Associate Degree in Medical Assisting or health-related field PLUS 5 years healthcare experience including a minimum of 160 hours in an ambulatory healthcare setting AND current certification as a Medical Assistant by a credentialing organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
OR
5. Certificate in Medical Assisting with 30 or more related college credits PLUS 7 years healthcare experience including a minimum of 160 hours in an ambulatory healthcare setting AND current certification as a Medical Assistant by a credentialing organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
NOTE: Health-Related fields for all include: Nursing, Public Health, Biology, or any Health or Health Science field.
Desirable Qualifications
- Work experience related to course to be taught.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively.
- Familiarity with competency- and outcomes-based instruction.
