The Anthropology department is looking to hire 3 part-time lecturers with experience teaching Anthropology courses in designated fields of the discipline, which may include specializations in areas such as Biological Anthropology, Archaeology, Cultural Anthropology, or courses within their area of expertise, for the Department of Anthropology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Colorado Denver. We seek candidates who can teach core undergraduate courses including Introduction to Biological Anthropology, Introduction to Archaeology, Introduction to Cultural anthropology, an upper-division required university core course in archaeology, “Lost Worlds and Crystal Skulls,” and a graduate-level core class for our MA students, “Quantitative Methods.” Candidates may teach remotely.
Lecturer
What you will do:
- Teach one to several classes a year, including core undergraduate classes in Biological Anthropology, Archaeology, or Cultural Anthropology and/or a university core class in archaeology, “Lost Worlds and Crystal Skulls,” and/or a MA-level core class, “Quantitative Methods”
- Prepare lectures and deliver them to students
- Grade student assignments
- Supervise graduate students teaching lab sections of Introduction to Biological Anthropology as relevant
Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Master's degree in Anthropology with a specialization in Biological Anthropology, Archaeology, and/or Cultural Anthropology.
Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)
- PhD in Anthropology or related field.
- Prior teaching experience.
- Ability to teach online if required.
- Facility with online course management platforms such as Canvas.
- Experience/interest in using engaged/experiential learning methods to reach a highly diverse undergraduate student population with many first-generation students.
