Lecturer
The University of Texas at San Antonio, Department of Educational Psychology located within the College of Education and Human Development invites applications for Lecturer position.
Position Summary
This position is for a Lecturer who will teach in our Undergraduate Behavioral Sciences program. We are seeking a dedicated professional to teach undergraduate courses within our child life program. This role focuses strictly on high-quality classroom instruction and student mentorship. The ideal candidate will bridge academic theory with real-world clinical practice, preparing students for child life internships and certification. The essential functions of the position include:
- Teach undergraduate course in the Undergraduate Behavioral Sciences Program in the Child Life Track.
- Help develop Child Life courses within the newly created undergraduate program.
- Deliver instruction on topics like Therapeutic Play and Pediatric Coping Strategies.
- Grade coursework and evaluate student readiness for clinical placements.
- Maintain current knowledge of Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP) standards.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Educational Psychology, Human Development, Education, or related field.
- Certification: Active Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) credential.
- Ability to teach on-campus or online formats (synchronous or asynchronous).
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Education, Special Education, Psychology or related field.
- 1-2 years of teaching or guest lecturing experience in higher education.
- Experience supervising child life practicum students or interns in a hospital setting.
