Position title: Lecturer
Salary range: The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment. A reasonable salary estimate for full-time Lecturer position is $75,301 - $199,722.
Percent time: Appointments are typically part-time.
Anticipated start: Applications will be accepted and reviewed for department needs through the final date. Applicants are considered for positions as needs arise; the existence of this pool does not guarantee that a position is available. Applications are typically reviewed for fall course needs in April/May, spring course needs in October/November, and summer session course needs in January/February.

Position description
The Department of Plant and Microbial Biology in the Rausser College of Natural Resources at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary lecturers to teach courses in the area of plant and microbial biology should an opening arise. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the department.
General Duties: We are seeking outstanding lecturers who can teach/co-teach lecture, seminar, and/or laboratory courses in plant and microbial biology, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and maintaining a course website.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Advanced degree or be enrolled in an advanced degree program at the time of application.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
Advanced degree required by the start date of the job
Preferred qualifications
Documented experience in teaching one of the biological sciences at the college level is strongly preferred.
