As a Lecturer (Education Focused) in Asian Studies, you will have the opportunity to deliver engaging courses and contribute to the vibrant academic community at the Asia Institute. You will play a crucial role in shaping the intellectual journey of students, utilising your expertise in Southeast Asian languages, cultures, and political systems. While your primary focus will be teaching, you will also have the chance to conduct scholarly activities or research that enhance your teaching practices.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Deliver Engaging Teaching and Learning: Coordinate subjects, develop learning resources, and conduct lectures, tutorials, and seminars.
- Innovate Curriculum Design: Create cross-disciplinary approaches and technology-based teaching, learning, and assessment programs.
- Support Student Success: Consult with students, resolve issues, and assist with special consideration queries and outcomes.
- Contribute to Scholarship and Leadership: Engage in pedagogical research, attend meetings, and participate in committees at various levels.
You may be a great fit if:
You are a passionate educator with a PhD in Asian Studies, possessing expertise in Southeast Asian languages and cultures, and a proven track record of effective teaching practices and curriculum development.
You may also:
- Have a detailed understanding of Southeast Asian language, culture, society, or political systems.
- Demonstrate excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Possess the ability to interpret policies and procedures relevant to teaching and student support.
- Exhibit professional and collegial behaviour, committed to diversity and inclusion.
- Have an emerging record of pedagogical or academic research that informs teaching practice.
