Lecturer II - Instrumental Conducting

The Department of Music and Drama at Prairie View A&M University invites applications for Lecturer of Wind/Orchestral Conducting position, starting in Fall 2025. We are seeking a full-time, Non-tenure track (NTT) member committed to excellence in undergraduate education.

Responsibilities:

• Leads the Instrumental Conducting class.
• Instructs Instrumental Literature and Music Theory.
• Conducts one of our Wind Ensembles.
• Coaches chamber music ensembles (including strings).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

• Master's degree in Instrumental Conducting.
• One year of teaching in higher education.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Proficient in Wind Ensemble literature.
• Proficient in word processing and presenting in software, internet and e-mail.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Effective verbal, written and listening communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a various group of students.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree in Instrumental Conducting.
• Two years of teaching experience.
• Proficiency in other styles of music such as gospel and jazz is highly desirable.
