Position Summary

UCC seeks a Lecturer in Archaeology with a specialist interest in Western European prehistory (Mesolithic, Neolithic, or Bronze Age). The appointee will:

  • Deliver foundation and advanced courses on Irish and European prehistory
  • Support fieldwork and work placements in the curriculum
  • Contribute to research supervision at master’s and doctoral level
  • Participate in research and academic life of the Department, School, and University

Applicants must hold a doctoral qualification in Archaeology and have post-doctoral research experience with a strong record of peer-reviewed publications.

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Doctoral qualification in Archaeology from a recognized university at the time of application
  • Post-doctoral research experience
  • Teaching experience in Archaeology
  • Garda vetting and/or international police clearance may be required

Selection Criteria

  • Academic record and research outputs in Western European prehistory
  • Teaching experience and ability to develop fieldwork programs
  • Contribution to research supervision and academic life

Salary & Terms

Lecturer (Below the Bar) Salary Scale: €42,102 - €72,452 (Scale B) / €44,169 - €68,942 (Scale A)

Salary placement follows public sector pay policy
