Lecturer in Discipline
The Department of French of Columbia University invites applications for positions at the rank of Lecturer in Discipline (French) to begin July 1, 2026. These are fixed term, full-time appointments.
Teaching responsibilities will comprise the first three years of French instruction, including beginning and intermediate French and French conversation and may include advanced undergraduate writing and content courses. Other responsibilities might include the coordination of multiple sections of the language program, supervision and training of graduate student instructors, curriculum development, as well as placement and proficiency testing.
Appointments will be for one or three years. Renewal from one year to the next is contingent on excellent performance.

Minimum Degree Required: Ph.D.
Minimum Qualifications: Native or near-native fluency in French; 5 years’ experience in teaching French as a second/foreign language (college-level experience required); expertise in current methodologies and culture-based instruction, including integration of technology in the classroom.
