We are seeking a Lecturer in Ecology and Evolution to join the School of Science within our Division of STEM. This is a three-year fixed-term position, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to a research-intensive university recognised for its commitment to innovative teaching, high-quality research, and meaningful engagement with communities and iwi.

In this role, you will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervise honours and postgraduate students, and maintain an active research programme in areas aligned with evolutionary ecology, evolutionary genomics, biodiversity, invasive species, or bioinformatics. You will also participate in School and University service activities and contribute to curriculum development and academic leadership within your discipline.

Salary will be in the range of $92,603 to $110,407 per year, pro rata, based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full time (37.5 hours a week), three-year fixed-term role, based at our Hamilton campus in New Zealand.

You will be an enthusiastic and motivated academic with a PhD in a relevant discipline and a developing or established research profile in evolutionary ecology or a closely aligned field. You will bring proven teaching capability at tertiary level and a commitment to delivering high-quality, research-informed learning experiences for students.

You will demonstrate strong communication and organisational skills, the ability to work collaboratively within a team, and a willingness to contribute to administration, service, and outreach activities. An understanding of, or willingness to engage with, Mātauranga Māori and to develop basic te reo Māori is important, reflecting the University’s commitment to partnership with Māori.
