Position Overview

The HASS cluster at SUTD invites applications for a full-time, teaching-track faculty position in Economics, with a focus on empirical research in areas including but not limited to:

• Behavioral economics
• Econometrics
• Macroeconomics

Research on topics relevant to design, technology, or artificial intelligence (AI) is preferred.

Appointments are initially three-year contracts, renewable subject to review.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and teaching of new undergraduate courses in Economics for an interdisciplinary B.Sc. degree in Design, AI, and Economics.
• Teach courses in the undergraduate core curriculum, such as introductory social science courses or research methods.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives, particularly in areas connecting Economics, Design, and AI, collaborating with colleagues in engineering, architecture, computer science, and design.
• Mentor students, including capstone projects that integrate research on human problems with technological innovation.

Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Excellent record of effective university-level teaching.
• Potential to develop new directions in interdisciplinary teaching.
• Interest in collaborating with scientists, engineers, and technologists.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience in collaborating with industry or public sector partners.
• Interest or experience in Economics research relevant to technology or AI.
