Summary of the role
The School of Education (SoE) is one of the UK’s leading centres for educational research and teaching. In the REF 2021, 100% of our research was rated as internationally excellent in terms of impact. With a large and innovative portfolio of national and internationally focused postgraduate taught and research programmes, it is extremely well placed to thrive over the coming years. A 2023 OFSTED inspection re-affirmed SoE’s status as an exceptional provider of initial teacher education and training and it is currently enacting ambitious plans for the development of both its research and teaching programmes. We welcome colleagues who seek to promote and maintain a collegial working atmosphere and academically stimulating environment that will be attractive to and supportive of fellow academic and professional service staff and research students.
The SoE hosts the Centre for Research in Educational Equalities, Societies and Change, which focuses on issues of fairness and equity in educational contexts, including work on social justice and social mobility across all phases from early years to higher education. The Centre particularly engages in critical discourses on policy and policymaking.
