Lecturer in Film Production
Opportunity OverviewThe University of Salford is home to one of the UK’s largest centres of teaching and research in film and the broader media industries.
We are looking for a new member of our academic team to join us at MediaCity and our Newton Film Studios: an enthusiastic and inspirational lecturer with a proven record of accomplishment in professional film industry practice and experience of teaching in higher education.
We particularly welcome applications from filmmakers who can take the lead in our Professional Practice teaching, addressing areas of collaboration, production planning, working on set, wellbeing, and sustainability.
A track record of developing successful research projects is also essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching on a variety of modules across our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Film Production.
- The ability and experience to take a leading role in our Professional Practice teaching.
- The expertise to teach some of the following skills: directing, producing, scriptwriting, production managing, sound design, editing, cinematography.
- Demonstrating familiarity with a wide range of genres and forms of interest to our students, for example drama, documentary, shorts, or features.
- Contributing to the research agenda of the School, in the context of the UK’s Research Excellence Framework (REF).
