This is what you will be doing

We are looking for individuals with potential for exceptional teaching performance and broad interests in financial economics. The main tasks of the candidates are teaching in the undergraduate programs, thesis supervision (bachelor theses and master theses) and teaching coordination in the (under)graduate, master and executive education programs. Main duties and responsibilities:

• Teaching courses in the undergraduate program;
• Supervision of bachelor (and master theses);
• Teaching coordination.

This is what we ask of you

We will prioritize candidates that hold a Ph.D. (completed or near completion) but are also open to lecturers with considerable teaching experience in Finance without a Ph.D at University level and candidates that can teach in Dutch. Preferably starting from April 1st 2026.

This is what we offer you

For the lecture 4 we offer part-time or full-time employment for the period of four years with a probationary period of two months. The UFO profile Docent 4 applies to this position. This position is classified in scale 10. This means a gross monthly salary between € 3,546 and € 5,538 for full-time employment (38 hours per week), excluding holiday allowance (8%) and year-end bonus (8.3%). The salary scale depends on competences and work experience. The collective bargaining agreement of Dutch universities applies. The UvA has an extensive package of fringe benefits, including: 29 days' holiday with full employment & extra holidays between Christmas and the New Year; Excellent work (from home) facilities; reimbursement of commuting expenses; pension accrual with ABP; In addition, the UvA offers excellent study and development opportunities and encourages employees to continue their professional development; You may participate in the open UvA lectures with which you can earn up to 30 credits per year.

The Finance Group at the University of Amsterdam is an internationally recognized research group with a strong focus on high-quality academic research and teaching. Faculty members regularly publish in top- finance and economics journals and present their work at top academic conferences every year. The group is very collegial and diverse, with 15 different nationalities. We also maintain strong links to top schools in North America where many faculty members have studied or taught previously, and in Europe, where the group participates in several academic networks. The Finance Group offers courses at the undergraduate, graduate, executive (MBA and Master in International Finance) and Ph.D. (at the Tinbergen Institute) levels. The working language (including teaching) is English and Dutch (particularly in the undergraduate). Our campus is located in the city centre of Amsterdam.
