The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), University of Strathclyde, is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Nuclear Infrastructure to support our research under the Advanced Nuclear Research Centre.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in civil engineering or related fields. We are looking for a candidate who enjoys multidisciplinary research projects in clean energy technologies, with an emphasis on the nuclear sector. The candidate will demonstrate research related to, or directly applicable to, nuclear infrastructure which may encompass sensors, robotics, material science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and other emerging technologies. The candidate should have an ability and enthusiasm to collaborate with experts in related fields and an ambition to progress their ideas from fundamental research through to industrial application.

The candidate will possess a passion for teaching and an ability to deliver high-quality education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in civil engineering. They will contribute to curriculum development and delivery, including lectures, tutorials and laboratories.

Given the international focus of our department and the emphasis on global engagement, the candidate should express a willingness and enthusiasm for teaching in our international programs. This includes contributing to established activities such as the IJEP program with Yunnan University, China, and the Strathclyde in Bahrain campus, potentially developing new modules that align with global educational needs.

A crucial aspect of the role involves securing research funding to support innovative projects, including applying to the UK research councils and for industry-specific grants. Once in post, training and mentoring will be provided by the Department and the wider University, to support the development of successful funding applications.

Formal interviews for this post will be held on Thursday, 21 May 2026.

Informal enquiries about the post can be directed to Prof. Rebecca Lunn (rebecca.lunn@strath.ac.uk).
