To support our continuing growth, we are seeking to appoint a new Lecturer in Physiotherapy within the Department of Allied Health Professions within the School of Health and Life Sciences. Within a multidisciplinary School, the Department of Allied Health Professions delivers a number of highly successful programmes and contributes to the university’s core research excellence, fostered via Research Centre for Health (ReaCH). The department has a strong applied health focus to all teaching and research activities. We work in partnership with staff, students and external stakeholders embedding excellence, engagement and energy into every aspect of our activities. We are committed to providing an excellent student experience and promoting the use of technologies to enhance the quality of our educational provision and student experience. Our commitment to student focused, innovative and flexible learning strategies is supported by state-of-the-art facilities, which are accessible and exciting for all our students. Our learning, teaching, research, and community engagement is informed by our commitment to the Common Good.

As a Lecturer in Physiotherapy, you will have a focus on providing high-quality learning and teaching that is underpinned by scholarly activity. We are keen to receive applications from people who will enhance our delivery of and reputation in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and/or anatomy teaching, although expertise in other related areas is welcomed. Applicants should hold or be working towards a postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject.

Lecturers are expected to contribute to the delivery and assessment of existing modules, supervision, and the enhancement of the student experience across the range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. These include BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, MSc Physiotherapy (preregistration), MSc Advanced Physiotherapy Practice and MSc Advanced Practice. Prior experience of supporting student learning, teaching and assessment in higher education and practice based learning is required. The Department of Allied Health Professions promotes innovation in learning and teaching and, therefore, we are ideally keen to appoint an individual with experience of e-learning and online environments. We are looking for individuals who have taught in a professional capacity. A higher education teaching qualification and/or Fellow status with AdvanceHE is desirable. The post holders will also be expected to contribute to ensuring curricula are current and compliant with internal and external regulatory frameworks (e.g. CSP and HCPC).

If you wish to know more about this opportunity, or for an informal discussion, please feel free to contact Dr Alexandra Mavroeidi Head of Department of Allied Health Profession, (alexandra.mavroeidi@gcu.ac.uk) (+44 (0)141 331 8812)
