• Full-time continuing position at the Mawson Lakes Campus with travel across campuses required
• Salary Range: Level B $114,917 - $135,932 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

Work that matters

The Lecturer is responsible for the development, delivery, and coordination of Primary Sciences and Maths Education courses within undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the School of Education. This position is responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering engaging courses across on-campus and online formats, ensuring content remains contemporary, industry-relevant, and aligned with quality standards. The role contributes to the student experience through innovative teaching practices, effective assessment design, and the provision of academic support and guidance. Working collaboratively with academic and professional staff, the Lecturer will also support program development and contribute to the school’s broader teaching strategy.

In addition to teaching, the Lecturer will establish and contribute to a strong program of research, producing high-quality outputs and building a competitive research profile through publications, funding, and collaborations. The role involves supervising research students, engaging in interdisciplinary projects, and strengthening partnerships with industry, community, and academic organisations to enhance both research impact and graduate outcomes. The Lecturer will also contribute to academic leadership, course coordination, and the ongoing development of the school through active participation in committees, mentoring colleagues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience

To join our community and thrive in this role, you will likely have the following skills and experience:

• PhD qualification in Science and/or Mathematics Education in the primary and/or middle years of schooling, together with associated experience in research and teaching in a relevant discipline area.
• Demonstrated ability to undertake a range of teaching duties including the preparation of appropriate teaching materials and resources for Science and/or Mathematics Education in the primary and/or middle years of schooling.
• Demonstrated commitment to establishing a program of research that demonstrates growing publication record, and experience in the preparation of research grant applications and success in attracting research income commensurate with opportunity in the discipline.
• Demonstrated ability in using a range of contemporary teaching methodologies (including digital techniques) required for effective curriculum delivery.
• Demonstrated high standard of interpersonal ability, written and oral communication skills and the ability to work as a member of a diverse team.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching through continual development and improving performance.

Desirables:

• Current registration as a teacher in the state of South Australia, or eligibility for registration.
• Experience in the supervision of higher degree research candidates.
• Experience working with schools, teachers and professional bodies as research partners and in the delivery of professional development.
