About the Position:
Flinders University is entering an exciting period of growth within Psychology, with expansion of postgraduate training places in response to strong national demand for clinical psychology services and workforce development.
We are now seeking a Lecturer in Psychology (Clinical Supervisor) to play a key role in training the next generation of clinical psychologists through high-quality supervision and teaching within the Flinders University Psychology Clinic.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced clinical psychologist to combine practice with teaching, supporting postgraduate students (Master of Clinical Psychology and Clinical Psychology PhD) as they develop real-world clinical skills in a supervised training environment. The role focuses on clinical supervision, teaching, and student development, rather than research, and offers the chance to shape future practitioners while remaining engaged in meaningful clinical work.
In this position, you will:
- Provide individual and group clinical supervision to postgraduate psychology students on placement
- Deliver high-quality teaching and contribute to clinical training and assessment
- Support student development through feedback, mentoring, and reflective practice
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement of clinical training programs
About You
You are an experienced and registered Clinical Psychologist who is passionate about supporting the development of future practitioners. You bring strong clinical expertise, particularly in working with children, young people, and families, and are confident providing supervision, feedback, and guidance in a training environment.
You will demonstrate:
- Completion of a PhD degree in Clinical Psychology and/or qualifications and equivalent professional experience in a relevant area, as well as registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia with practice endorsement in the area of Clinical Psychology.
- Approval as a Board-approved supervisor for higher degree placements
- Experience supervising or mentoring postgraduate psychology students or early career clinicians
- Experience of teaching and learning experience and excellence at a tertiary level.
- Strong clinical skills, including assessment, intervention, and report writing, ideally with children and young people
