Job Summary

The College of Health Sciences seeks a Lecturer to teach undergraduate courses in epidemiology, nutrition, research methods, and other core public health courses. This non-tenure track faculty position, based in the School of Health and Human Performance, is a 10-month academic year position.

Responsibilities

Faculty - Teaching/Instructing -
Teaching Responsibilities

• Carry a full-time 5/5 instructional load in undergraduate Public Health courses within areas of disciplinary expertise.
• Deliver engaging, high-quality instruction through face-to-face, hybrid, and online modalities, including regular course meetings and effective student engagement.
• Teach core curriculum courses, including epidemiology and nutrition, aligned with CEPH foundational domains and competencies.
• Advise and mentor students in support of their academic success, experiential learning, applied practice experiences, and preparation for professional and graduate pathways.
• Contribute to curriculum development, strategic program growth, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes and overall program effectiveness.
• Engage in service and other teaching-related responsibilities at the School, College, and University levels.

Faculty- Teaching/Instructing (cont.) -
Faculty also contribute to the Georgia College core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses. All Georgia College faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non-majors alike. To carry out our public liberal arts mission, we seek faculty with the desire and ability to engage students as they launch their intellectual journey.

Faculty - Professional Development -
Faculty are expected to stay current in their field.

Faculty - Service to Institution -
All faculty are expected to help the department in recruiting majors. Faculty members are expected to attend Department meetings and events.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Doctoral degree (DrPH, PhD, or equivalent) in Public Health or a related discipline from an accredited institution at the time of appointment.

Other Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate public health coursework.
• Evidence of effective teaching or strong teaching potential in epidemiology and/or nutrition.
• Commitment to student engagement and retention.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching epidemiology and nutrition at the undergraduate level.
• Experience with CEPH accreditation processes, curriculum mapping, or program assessment.
• Experience with student recruitment, outreach initiatives, or program growth efforts.
• Experience integrating applied practice, workforce preparation, or community-based learning into coursework.
• Experience with online or hybrid course delivery.
• Professional public health experience in governmental, nonprofit, or healthcare sectors.

Proposed Salary

The salary range would start at a minimum of $50,000.00 to a maximum of $62,920.00.
