The Opportunity

Join a forward-thinking academic team delivering high-quality teaching across Tourism and Event Management. You will contribute to the design and delivery of future-focused programs that prepare students for the strategic, operational and technological challenges shaping global tourism and event industries.

This role also supports the renewal of curriculum to reflect emerging trends such as digital transformation, sustainability, immersive experiences and evolving global mobility. You will build industry connections, contribute to student employability, and develop an emerging research profile within a collaborative and high-performing environment.

You will:

  • deliver high-quality, scholarly teaching by maintaining discipline expertise, designing and continuously improving curricula, using contemporary technologies, and engaging students through effective face-to-face and online learning, assessment, and feedback practices;
  • contribute to learning and teaching leadership and scholarship by participating in professional development, improving teaching practice, engaging in practitioner research, publishing outcomes, and sharing expertise within and beyond the University;
  • build research capability and impact through developing a clear research agenda, conducting and collaborating on research projects, applying for competitive grants, publishing findings, and supervising Higher Degree by Research candidates; and
  • strengthen internal and external engagement by developing strategic partnerships, collaborating with industry and academic peers, and applying disciplinary expertise to real-world challenges that support regional, national, and international impact.

About you:

You are an engaging and industry-aware academic with a passion for delivering applied, experience-led learning. You bring demonstrated capability in designing and delivering contemporary, technology-enabled curriculum that reflects current and emerging industry practices across tourism and events, including areas such as digital transformation, sustainability, and immersive experiences. You are confident in creating interactive, real-world learning environments that enhance student engagement, employability, and career readiness.

A collaborative and motivated professional, you contribute to teaching excellence, research activity and meaningful industry engagement. You build strong relationships with colleagues and external partners, supporting curriculum innovation and continuous improvement. Committed to student success, you foster an inclusive, supportive academic environment and actively contribute to a positive, high-performing culture within the School.

You will possess:

  • A doctoral qualification (or near completion) in Tourism, Event Management, Sport Tourism, Hospitality or a related discipline
  • Experience designing and delivering high-quality teaching in tourism and/or event management
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary industry trends, including digital, immersive and sustainable practices
  • Evidence of effective teaching practice, including curriculum design, student engagement and positive outcomes
  • An emerging research and/or scholarship profile, including publications or project involvement
  • Ability to build and maintain industry partnerships that enhance student learning and employability

Desirable

  • Experience teaching sport tourism and/or sport management
  • Industry or research experience in major events, experience design, or data-informed tourism practices
