About the Role

Queen Mary University of London is seeking an enthusiastic and committed non-clinical Lecturer to contribute to and lead high-quality teaching and scholarship within our postgraduate programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the education of future biomedical science and healthcare professionals within a dynamic, research-intensive academic environment.

The postholder will play a central role in the design, delivery and development of MSc-level teaching, particularly within our internationally recognised programmes in critical care and perioperative medicine. Providing academic and pastoral support to students will be a core component of the role.

About You

You will hold a PhD in biomedical sciences relevant to translational or experimental medicine, alongside a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (or equivalent) and Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

You will have experience teaching in higher education, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, and be confident working with diverse student groups in both large and small teaching settings. A track record of high-quality research and/or pedagogical publications is essential, alongside a clear commitment to advancing scholarship in education.

You will demonstrate a strong understanding of student and have well-developed plans to enhance teaching and assessment practices. Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and engagingly to a wide range of audiences, including students, academic colleagues and the public.

About the School/Department/Institute/Project

This role is based within the William Harvey Research Institute, specifically the Centre for Translational Medicine and the Critical Care and Perioperative Medicine Group. The group focuses on improving understanding and treatment of acute and critical illness.

Our MSc programmes attract a diverse international cohort of over 50 students annually and are delivered across teaching spaces at the Royal London Hospital and research facilities at the John Vane Science Centre, Charterhouse Square.
