This new part-time (0.8 FTE) post is available immediately in the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.

Summary of the role

The Department of Archaeology and History at the University of Exeter seeks to appoint a Research Fellow to support the Biocultural HIVE, part of the AHRC RICHeS Infrastructure Portfolio.

This role provides specialist research expertise and coordination across a distinctive suite of digital, laboratory, and collections-based research infrastructure, supporting interdisciplinary work in archaeology, bioanthropology, heritage science, and forensic studies. The postholder will play a central role in ensuring that both physical and digital resources are accessible, well-documented, ethically managed, and sustainably maintained for use by University researchers, project partners, students, and approved external users.

About you

The successful applicant will enable access to Biocultural HIVE and SHArD 3D by external users. They will contribute to the identification of research funding opportunities, support the preparation of grant applications and projects embedded within, and supported by, our shared research infrastructure.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study, demonstrate a developing national research profile in this area, and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required. Applicants will be able to oversee and enable access to shared facilities, collections, and digital resources for external users and collaborators, researchers and students. They will be able to work with external partners and stakeholders, facilitating research access, and ensuring that all activity complies with ethical, legal, and governance requirements and will be able to work collaboratively across academic and professional services teams.
