Lecturer (Level B) in Data Science and AI
PRIMARY DETAIL
- Salary Package: Level B from $123,435 to $146,044 p.a. (3% increase from July 2026), plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading
- Appointment Type: Full-time, fixed term for 4 years
- Location: Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde
Macquarie University is looking for an outstanding academic with an excellent track record of teaching and research in Data Science and AI. The successful applicant will be expected to develop, teach and convene units at the postgraduate and undergraduate levels, while supervising Higher Degree Research students as well as leading and collaborating on research projects.
We strongly encourage candidates with relevant teaching and research experience in one or more of the following areas to apply: Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Neural Networks, Applications of Statistics in Information Technology. Candidates with a strong research background in Graph Data Mining and Learning are highly desirable.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an excellent track record in research and teaching, as well as personal and professional skills that can enable service and leadership contributions that will help to strengthen the impact and reputation of the School of Computing, Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Macquarie University.
About You (Selection Criteria)
- A PhD in Data Science and AI or a closely related discipline, with a research focus on one or more of the following: Graph Mining, Graph Neural Networks, Graph Learning, Graph for LLM, Dynamic Graphs, and Graph Database
- Demonstrated commitment and capability in delivering high-quality, innovative teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in data science and AI
- A strong publication record in top-tier peer-reviewed journals and conferences (e.g., KDD, ICDM, ICDE, NeurIPS, IJCAI, AAAI, IEEE/ACM Transactions)
- Demonstrated teaching expertise in one or more of: Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Neural Networks, or Applications of Statistics in Information Technology
- Proven ability to attract and supervise research students
- Demonstrated potential to attract nationally competitive and/or industry research grants
- High-level oral and written communication skills in English, with a proven ability to interact effectively with students, staff, and the community
- Experience engaging and collaborating effectively with industry (Desirable)
