Position Summary
The Indiana University Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering in Indianapolis invites applications for one full-time lecturer-track faculty position in the Department of Library and Information Science. The appointment will begin on August 1, 2027. This 10-month appointment (August through May) is annually renewable, based upon satisfactory performance.
Additional compensation is available for candidates interested in teaching during the summer months. A committed educator is sought to join our department on the Indianapolis campus. We are interested in candidates with one or more of the following areas of expertise:
Ideal candidates will also shape their teaching in ways that leverage the unique strengths of Luddy Indianapolis, including its interdisciplinary and collaborative environment and commitment to service and community engagement. We especially welcome candidates who bring direct experience or novel approaches to incorporating generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) (and related tools) to enhance student learning. ResponsibilitiesFull-time lecturer-track faculty commit to a balanced workload of teaching and service, which includes:- Teach graduate courses in the LIS department; typically, four course section/equivalents per semester and 3-5 different courses per academic year- Supervise independent studies- Mentor graduate students- Contribute to course and curriculum development- Contribute to the department, school and campus level, and the professional community through service (e.g., committees, initiatives, task forces, etc.)

About the Department of Library and Information Science ¦ https://luddy.indianapolis.iu.edu/departments/lis/index.html In 2000, the Indianapolis location of the Indiana University School of Library and Information Science was founded to provide high-quality library education to students who could not be residential students, needing distance learning options. The Department is ALA-accredited, offering students a wide array of academic and career specializations. The LIS department is particularly strong in the application of technology to the information professions and in public libraries, children/youth services, and increasingly archives, particularly digital curation. Tenure track and lecturer faculty work together to provide engaged and engaging education with a commitment to the development of the library and information professions. Securing external funding for student support and faculty research is important to the Department and to the School.

The Indiana University School of Informatics and Computing was the first completely new school in the United States devoted exclusively to Informatics and a range of its sub-disciplines. In 2013 the Indiana University School of Library and Information Science merged with the School of Informatics. With its formative national role in creating the nation's largest Informatics Program on the Bloomington and Indianapolis campus, the school is the broadest and one of the largest information/computing schools in the U.S. At IU Indianapolis, the school offers six Ph.
