Lecturer of History Education

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position as Lecturer of History Education in the Department of History and Philosophy with a preferred start date of August 2026. This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities

• Face-to-face and virtual supervision of teacher education candidates in field and clinical experiences in area schools
• Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in history education as needed
• Service to department, college, university, or community

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications

To Teach Undergraduate Courses:

• A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in history, history education, or a closely related discipline is required at the time of hire. OR a minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in a non-related discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in history or history education.
• At least three years of experience as a 6-12 social studies classroom teacher.

To Teach Graduate Courses:

• A terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent, in history, history education, or a closely related discipline is required at the time of hire.
• At least three years of experience as a 6-12 social studies classroom teacher.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience mentoring or supervising in-service or pre-service teachers
• Five or more years of teaching experience in a middle or secondary social studies classroom
• A Ph.D., or the foreign equivalent, in history education or a related field
