Location
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Department Information
The History and Philosophy Department prepares students for adaptable, fulfilling careers by teaching a core set of transferable knowledge and skills through research, analyzing and assessing evidence, and articulating sound conclusions both orally and in writing. Students learn about the larger world by studying societies, cultures, and economies across a broad chronological and geographical spectrum, which makes them better global citizens, problem solvers, and communicators.

Radow College of Humanities & Social Sciences is dedicated to pioneering workforce readiness in the humanities and social sciences. Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position as Lecturer of History Education in the Department of History and Philosophy with a preferred start date of August 2026. This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
- Face-to-face and virtual supervision of teacher education candidates in field and clinical experiences in area schools
- Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in history education as needed
- Service to department, college, university, or community
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
To Teach Undergraduate Courses:
- A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in history, history education, or a closely related discipline is required at the time of hire.
- OR a minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in a non-related discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in history or history education.
- AND at least three years of experience as a 6-12 social studies classroom teacher.
To Teach Graduate Courses:
- A terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent, in history, history education, or a closely related discipline is required at the time of hire.
- AND at least three years of experience as a 6-12 social studies classroom teacher.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience mentoring or supervising in-service or pre-service teachers
- Five or more years of teaching experience in a middle or secondary social studies classroom
- A Ph.D., or the foreign equivalent, in history education or a related field
