Appointment Status: Non-Tenure Track Department: IU Bloomington School of Public Health Location Bloomington Position Summary The Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington (SPH-B) invites applications for the position of Lecturer of Parks, Recreation, and the Outdoors, who will also contribute as a generalist in the Department of Sport Management, Tourism, & Recreation (SMTR). This 10-month appointment would ideally start August 1, 2027 , although an earlier or later start date is

Responsibilities: As non-tenure-track faculty, Lecturers are expected to substantially contribute to the overall academic excellence of the department through excellence in teaching and student learning; the development, delivery, and enhancement of courses and curricula within their areas of expertise; the mentoring and supporting undergraduate and/or graduate students as appropriate; and professional development and scholarly or creative activities that support teaching and student learning. This role is comprised of primarily teaching in the area of parks and recreation. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute as a generalist to broader departmental needs. Basic Qualifications Qualifications: Candidates must hold a master's degree or higher, with a preference given to those holding a doctoral degree, in Recreation/Leisure or a closely related field from a reputable, well-established institution. Candidates must have professional experience in the field of parks, recreation, and the outdoors beyond academic training and be able to demonstrate effective teaching skills and the ability to contribute to high-quality instruction, as well as provide practical applications within their area of expertise. Strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and students will be key. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to contribute to curriculum development, instructional innovation, student mentoring, and other activities that support the teaching mission of the department and school, as appropriate to their assigned responsibilities.
