Position Summary:
The Performing and Visual Arts Department at the University of Wisconsin–Platteville is seeking an outstanding vocal performer and educator to join our music program as a Lecturer of Voice, beginning August 2027. This is a full-time, nine-month, benefits-eligible position with a salary range of $40,000 - $43,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
We seek a collaborative colleague who will inspire students, contribute to a vibrant and supportive learning environment, and actively engage with students, faculty, and the university community.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Teach applied voice to music majors, music minors, and non-degree music students, with responsibility for preparing music majors through senior recital.
- Teach courses such as Diction for Singers I and Diction for Singers II, Convocation, Music Appreciation, and other courses based on departmental needs and the candidate’s areas of expertise.
- Participate in weekly Voice Convocation and voice-area evaluations, including voice hearings, juries, and Upper Division Examinations.
- Work closely with the Vocal Area Coordinator and other music faculty to support the vocal area and music program.
- Recruit and retain voice students and contribute to the growth of the voice area.
- Collaborate and perform with faculty and university ensembles as appropriate.
- Participate in departmental concerts, recruitment events, festivals, and other program activities.
- Maintain an active professional profile as a performer and teacher in the field of voice.
- Participate in departmental and university service as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Music with an emphasis in Voice, Vocal Performance, Vocal Pedagogy, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience teaching applied voice at the college or university level.
- Demonstrated experience at high artistic level as a vocal performer.
- Ability to recruit, mentor, and retain voice students.
- Strong commitment to undergraduate education and collaboration with students and faculty.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
