Lecturer or Assistant Professor
The Department of Philosophy at Mount Allison University invites applications for a full-time nine-month sessional position as Lecturer or Assistant Professor. Candidates should have or be near completion of a PhD in Philosophy. Candidates should also demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and a promising research profile. The teaching requirement is five undergraduate courses.
The successful candidate will teach an introductory-level course in philosophy (PHIL 1651), a second-year course of Introductory Philosophy of Science, a second-year course of Introductory Logic, a third-year course in Environmental Ethics, and a third-year course on a topic of special research interest. An ideal candidate will have teaching experience in philosophy of science. Historically-informed approaches are preferred, in keeping with the Department’s commitment to the importance of the history of philosophy, broadly construed.
The appointment will commence August 1, 2026, subject to budgetary approval.
