Overall Purpose of the Job:
The Department of Economics at Manchester wishes to appoint one Lecturer (Teaching & Scholarship) in Econometrics from September 2026 onwards.
We wish to appoint an innovative and an engaging colleague who will be able to enhance the quality of our teaching and improve the student experience at Manchester. The candidate’s responsibilities include course unit leadership, support colleagues by delivering small class teaching for other large units, dissertation supervision and contribution to course unit design including the delivery of formative and summative assessment for students on these units and the marking of assessments.
In addition to course unit specific engagement the candidates will also be involved in other administrative and pastoral duties. Colleagues appointed to a Senior Lecturer position will be expected to do so at a senior level.
We are looking for a colleague able to teach econometrics in undergraduate and postgraduate course units. The colleague will be expected to provide coding support to students (in R and preferably also in Python). We would also anticipate the colleague to deliver statistics course units at the undergraduate level.
Colleagues appointed will be expected to engage in evidence-based enhancement and development of teaching and learning of econometrics in the department. Colleagues appointed to a Senior Lecturer position will be expected to make such contributions beyond the department.
