Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Information Retrieval or Natural Language Processing
About the Role
We are seeking an academic at either Level B (Lecturer) or Level C (Senior Lecturer) who can complement the School's world-leading expertise in library and information management and data science. This role will focus on human-oriented technical information retrieval or natural language processing (NLP) research.
Set within the Interaction, Technology and Information Discipline, and reflecting a strong human-computer interaction orientation, the successful candidate will also collaborate closely with the Data Science and AI Discipline. Their work will contribute to one or more of the School's overarching themes, including responsible computing and digital health.
As the successful candidate you will have a track record of publishing in key outlets appropriate to their discipline-for example, SIGIR, TOIS and IP&M for information retrieval, or ACL, EMNLP and FAccT for NLP.
At both levels, the successful candidate will contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School. Furthermore, part of this role will include:
- delivering high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs
- maintaining and advancing scholarly and professional capabilities, and contributing to curriculum development
- active engagement with academic, industry and professional communities, and collaboration with colleagues across teaching and research activities.
