Lecturer/PhD Researcher in Corporate Law
Job Summary: This is a full-time position (1.00 FTE) for a Lecturer/PhD Researcher in Corporate Law at the Department of Corporate and Financial Law, Institute for Private Law, Faculty of Law, University of Leiden. Approximately one-third of the time is dedicated to teaching and departmental duties, while the remaining time is for research leading to a PhD dissertation in corporate and/or insolvency law within four years.
Responsibilities: Teaching duties include preparing, developing, assessing, and coordinating courses in corporate law; supervising and assessing bachelor and master theses; possibly developing and providing post-academic education for professionals; and contributing to other departmental and faculty tasks. Research duties include conducting independent research for a dissertation and possibly collaborating on departmental research activities.
Qualifications and Requirements: Candidates must be willing to pursue a PhD and have a strong research mentality with excellent writing skills. They should aim to perform innovative and thorough research in corporate and/or insolvency law for both Dutch and international scientific debates, and be proficient in Dutch and English. Affinity with teaching and the ambition to educate future lawyers are essential, along with good didactic qualities evidenced by evaluations or references. Candidates must have completed a bachelor's and master's in law with good results, have affinity and experience with corporate law, and be able to work collaboratively in a team. Master students nearing completion or recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Possession of or willingness to obtain the Basic Qualification in Education (BKO) within two years is required.
What the Employer Offers: Appointment according to the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, with a salary ranging from €3,378 to €5,331 gross per month for a full-time position (scale 10), depending on education and experience. Additional benefits include an end-of-year bonus (8.3%), holiday allowance (8%), excellent training facilities, paid parental leave, sabbatical leave, and the option to customize employment conditions.
