Lecturer Pool - Department of Ancient Greek and Roman Studies - College of Letters & Science
The Department of Ancient Greek and Roman Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach in-person sections of lower and/or upper division lecture courses, including Reading & Composition, Greek Language, Latin Language, and Classics.
Responsibilities may include teaching one or more sections of a lecture course, attending all lectures, advising students, holding regular office hours, assigning grades, preparing course materials, and maintaining a course website. Independent courses typically meet for 3-4 hours per week, while each section of lecture courses meets for 2 hours per week plus lecture attendance.
Basic Qualifications: Advanced degree or enrolled in an advanced degree program (required at time of application).
Additional Qualifications: Advanced degree required by start date. For non-US citizens or permanent residents, a legal permit that allows work in the United States is required.
Preferred Qualifications: For Reading & Composition courses, experience teaching college composition. For Greek/Latin language and Classics courses, a PhD or equivalent international degree in Classics or related field.
Appointments are non-tenured, typically part-time, ranging from 25% to 100% time. Salary is commensurate with teaching experience, with a full-time range of $70,977 to $75,301.
