Position Details
Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job
Support the delivery of courses in a competency-based education ( CBE ) format for the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences ( BAAS ) in Criminal Justice. CBE courses are fully online and designated to allow students to progress by demonstrating mastery of clearly defined competencies. Faculty serve as instructors of record and are responsible for evaluating student work; providing timely, individualized feedback; monitoring student progress; maintaining regular communication with students; and supporting learner persistence toward mastery of course competencies. Faculty participate in required training, collaborate with program leadership to ensure instructional quality and consistency, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the competency-based education program.
This position is structured as a 9-month academic-year appointment with an anticipated 3-month summer appointment to support the continuous delivery of the competency-based education program. Faculty are expected to provide instruction across multiple entry points throughout the calendar year, including summer, to ensure consistent support for student learning and progression.
Educational Requirements for the Position
Master’s degree in criminal justice, criminology, or closely related field
Experience Required for the Position
Minimum of five years of professional experience in criminal justice or related field.Strong written communication and feedback skills. Experience with online learning environments (e.g. Blackboard)
Other Requirements for the Position
Experience with competency-based education or outcomes-based assessment Experience working with adult learners Experience with supervising, training, or mentoring professionals
