Job Description:
The Department of Psychology, within the College of Arts and Sciences, offers Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD degrees with concentrations in Behavioral Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Clinical Psychology, and Industrial/Organizational Psychology. Additionally, the Department of Psychology and the College of Arts and Sciences offers a collaborative and supportive environment. This position emphasizes candidates who pursue excellence in research, teaching, and service at an R1 institution that serves a diverse community and mentors the next generation of scientists.
The Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology, within the School of Education, is multidisciplinary and devoted to research, teaching, and service in the use of psychological principles to promote lifelong growth, learning, and development in multiple life roles and contexts. Four disciplines are represented in the department: Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology and Methodology, School Psychology, and Special Education.
The Department of Psychology and the Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology seek to hire a Full-time Lecturer to teach psychology courses for UAlbany's Nursing Programs for the 2026-27 academic year with classes beginning August 24, 2026. This is a one-year, full-time academic year position, with the opportunity to apply for a term Lecturer appointment during the year.
The Lecturer will teach six undergraduate psychology courses per year, three courses per semester, as assigned by the Department Chair and Dean. Courses to be taught include APSY 101 Introduction to Psychology and EPSY 224 Lifespan Development. UAlbany's primary course delivery and other obligations are expected to be completed in person, unless specific assignments are assigned or approved to be completed remotely or online at the University's discretion.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teaching: Three courses per semester, for a total of six courses during the academic year.
- Service: University, College, Department Service, and other reasonable duties as assigned.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships:
- Reports to: Department Chair
- May supervise employees as assigned.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. degree or terminal degree in psychology or closely related field from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally accrediting organization by 8/21/2026.
- Experience teaching at the college or university level.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching Introduction to Psychology and Lifespan Development.
- Experience teaching nursing students.
