Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor in Mathematics Education

We are seeking applications from outstanding candidates across the academic spectrum (Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, and Associate Professor) in Mathematics Education.
In this role, you will contribute to teaching, research, and service within initial teacher education programmes. You will deliver research-informed teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate levels, support students in professional experience placements, and contribute to curriculum development.
At more senior levels, you will demonstrate academic leadership through mentoring colleagues, leading research initiatives, securing external funding, and contributing to School and University strategy. You will bring expertise in the New Zealand Curriculum and contemporary mathematics teaching practices, alongside a commitment to advancing research in mathematics education.
Salary will be in the range of $92,603 to $110,407 per year for a Lecturer, $113,428 to $148,799 per year for a Senior Lecturer, or $150,661 to $166,176 per year for an Associate Professor, based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week), based on our Hillcrest Campus.

Ko wai koe? - Who are you?
You will have a PhD (completed or near completion for Lecturer level) in a relevant discipline and expertise in mathematics education within initial teacher education.
You will also demonstrate:
- Strong teaching capability across undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- An active or emerging research profile in mathematics education
- Knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum and current school practices
- Experience or potential in postgraduate supervision (level dependent)
- Ability to contribute to academic service and collegial collaboration
For senior appointments, you will bring:
- A sustained and high-quality research track record
- Experience securing research funding and leading research programmes
- Proven academic leadership and mentoring capability
In addition, you will value culturally responsive teaching and demonstrate commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, with an understanding of Māori and Pasifika perspectives in education.
