Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Clinical Exercise Physiology to join School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, Faculty of Health.
This position presents a valuable opportunity to contribute to a well-established academic and clinical teaching environment within the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the next generation of Accredited Exercise Physiologists through innovative teaching, clinical supervision and curriculum development. With access to QUT’s purpose-built Health Clinics and strong industry partnerships, the role supports meaningful engagement with community health initiatives and interdisciplinary collaboration. The position also provides scope to develop a robust research profile aligned with the School’s strategic priorities in exercise physiology and allied health.

The School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences was established in January 2012 and includes the disciplines of exercise science, clinical exercise physiology, nutrition and dietetics, and health and physical education. ENS is one of six schools in the Faculty of Health. The school offers bachelor degrees in exercise and movement science and clinical exercise physiology, nutrition, nutrition and dietetics as well as Honours, Masters and PhD awards. The school has a strong research culture with research programs in exercise and sports science, exercise physiology and nutrition and dietetics. It is anticipated that this position will develop and progress quality evaluation and research activities that will underpin excellence in clinical teaching.
What you need to succeed
Lecturer (Level B)
- Completion of a doctoral qualification in Clinical Exercise Physiology or a closely related discipline; alternatively, a completed postgraduate qualification in musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory or exercise physiology.
- Current ESSA AEP accreditation.
- Experience designing and delivering learning activities in Clinical Exercise Physiology, with capability in curriculum and assessment development.
- Evidence of contemporary clinical experience as an AEP across relevant domains (e.g., musculoskeletal, metabolic, cardiorespiratory) and ability to supervise students in clinical/practicum settings.
- Developing research track record demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications commensurate with career stage, and potential to develop an independent research program and attract funding.
- Ability to build and maintain clinical networks/industry partnerships that enhance student placements and/or graduate outcomes.
Senior Lecturer (Level C)
- Completion of a doctoral qualification in Clinical Exercise Physiology or cognate discipline, with a sustained profile of clinical exercise rehabilitation scholarship.
- Current ESSA AEP accreditation and active engagement with ESSA professional standards.
- Record of teaching excellence and innovation as well as experience in curriculum development related to Clinical Exercise Physiology.
- Evidence of contemporary clinical experience as an AEP across relevant domains (e.g., musculoskeletal, metabolic, cardiorespiratory) and capacity to lead clinical supervision/placement models.
- High-quality research track record demonstrated through quality publications, success in securing competitive/external/industry funding or successful HDR supervisions.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and lead partnerships with health services, community or industry that enhance placements, research translation and/or graduate outcomes.
