Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Education is a collaborative and innovative community dedicated to preparing future teachers who make a meaningful difference in schools and communities. Through contemporary teaching practices, strong professional partnerships and student-centred learning, the Faculty delivers high-quality Initial Teacher Education programs across multiple disciplines and delivery modes.
We are seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Education (HSIE and Humanities) to join our growing Education team. This position combines expertise in Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE), particularly History, with a strong commitment to primary Initial Teacher Education. The successful candidate will contribute primarily to the Bachelor of Education (Primary), helping prepare future teachers through engaging teaching, curriculum innovation and scholarly practice.

You will make an impact by:
Delivering high-quality teaching in Primary HSIE and Humanities, particularly History, across face to face, blended and online environments
Teaching within Initial Teacher Education programs, particularly the Bachelor of Education (Primary)
Contributing to curriculum design, development and evaluation aligned with the Australian Curriculum and accreditation requirements
Engaging in research and/or the scholarship of teaching that strengthens the Faculty’s academic profile
Building partnerships with schools, professional organisations and the broader education community
What you will bring
You are a passionate educator and scholar who is committed to excellent teaching, meaningful student outcomes and contemporary approaches to primary education. You enjoy working collaboratively, value innovation in learning and teaching, and are motivated to contribute to both the academic and professional communities of education. To succeed in this role, you will also need:
A PhD or Professional Doctorate in HSIE, History, Humanities or a related discipline, together with an initial teacher education qualification
Demonstrated experience teaching within Initial Teacher Education, including the use of contemporary educational technologies in blended and online learning environments
Strong knowledge of the Australian Curriculum, particularly Primary HSIE and History
Evidence of research, scholarship or professional practice relevant to the level of appointment
Experience contributing to curriculum development, professional engagement and collaborative academic practice

Your opportunity is:
Full-time, continuing (permanent)
Located at either Coffs Harbour, NSW 2450, Gold Coast, QLD 4225, or Lismore, NSW 2480. Relocation assistance is available, making it easier to join our regional communities.
Academic Level B: $114,482 - $135,392 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $158,408.
Academic Level C: $139,568 - $160,473 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $187,753.
