About the role
The Dickson Poon School of Law is seeking to appoint two Lecturers or Senior Lecturers in Law who will contribute to the teaching, research, and other academic and professional activities at The Dickson Poon School of Law in Digital Law.
The successful candidates are expected to have completed a PhD by the starting date (or for the lecturer role, be demonstrably nearing the completion of a PhD by the starting date). They should be keen to gain further experience in research led teaching roles with active involvement in the administration and academic life of a thriving law school.
The successful candidates’ principal teaching contribution will be on our postgraduate programmes (online, on-campus and overseas) in Financial Law and/or Fintech. This should include one of more of the following areas: international syndicated loans and bonds; leveraged loans and high yield bonds; securitisation; derivatives; project finance; or equity capital markets. Additionally, post-holders may be asked to contribute to the undergraduate programmes, including our core modules.
In relation to their research, the successful candidates will have a demonstrably high potential to attract research funding, will be impact-focused and able contribute, if applicable, to the research priorities of the research centres in the School of Law.

These are both full-time (35 hours per week) posts, offered on an indefinite contract.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- PhD, DPhil or JSD or equivalent experience in Law
- Nearing the completion of a PhD by the starting date (Lecturer)
- Track record of excellent teaching and knowledge in Financial Law and/or Fintech. This should include one of more of the following areas: international syndicated loans and bonds; leveraged loans and high yield bonds; securitisation; derivatives; project finance; or equity capital markets
- A commitment to teaching in the area of of the candidate’s research, and in subjects of core legal knowledge in our undergraduate degrees.
- A strong publication record in Financial Law or FinTech. (Senior Lecturer)
- Demonstrable an ability to publish high-quality research in Law. (Lecturer)
- A track record of attracting research funding and/or research impact. (Senior Lecturer)
- Evidence of ability to apply for research funding. (Lecturer)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Competence with electronic learning platforms and other IT skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team, work collaboratively and collegiately as well as on one’s own initiative.
