Background of department
We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and experienced Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Forensic Investigation to join our established, and supportive Forensic Investigation team.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to high‑quality learning and teaching, research‑informed pedagogic practice, and effective assessment that enhances student engagement and the overall student experience.
The postholder will contribute to a well‑established undergraduate provision in forensic investigation and will actively engage in research, scholarly activity, and knowledge exchange, including cross‑disciplinary and cross‑cultural research initiatives aligned with the strategic aims of the School and the University.
We are particularly seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated forensic science practitioner with relevant professional experience, ideally within laboratory‑based forensic sciences, with knowledge and expertise in forensic chemistry, toxicology, and/or drugs analysis.
The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing the next generation of forensic scientists by contributing to the delivery of high‑quality education across undergraduate provision and by developing innovative, industry‑informed, and practice‑based learning, teaching, and assessment activities relevant to contemporary forensic investigation.
The role requires a strong commitment to a person‑centred, student‑focused approach, supporting students to develop the academic knowledge, professional skills, and ethical values essential for forensic practice.
The postholder will engage in teaching, academic scholarship, and professional practice within the University and will demonstrate a commitment to industry‑relevant innovation, research‑informed teaching, and inclusive pedagogic approaches. They will contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of the forensic investigation programme, including the design and facilitation of authentic, industry‑specific practical sessions, and will act as a role model and mentor to a diverse student body.
A strong commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and student and staff wellbeing is essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and external stakeholders to foster an inclusive learning environment that reflects the diversity of the student population and the wider society.

Kindly note while the role is advertised as Full time the panel will consider part time applications.
Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align to the service being delivered and to the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders. It is expected that the majority of your working time will be spent on campus.
