This role is within the School of Mathematics and Statistics, where you will make significant contributions to education within the school. This includes affiliation with the Mathematics and Statistics Learning Centre (MSLC), and the MSLC’s programme of academic and administrative leadership and support for learning and teaching.
Your next career opportunity: The School of Mathematics and Statistics is seeking to expand its expertise in mathematics and/or statistics education, with an appointment at Level B or C depending on your experience. You will contribute to and lead an innovative academic program of teaching, along with research in mathematics education. You also will contribute to the national and international community through the conduct of research in mathematics education, or scholarship of learning and teaching in mathematics. There may also be opportunities for the candidate to conduct other discipline-related research.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop and Deliver Innovative Teaching: Create and teach engaging undergraduate subjects, coordinate large courses, and develop cutting-edge learning materials.
- Lead Educational Innovation: Spearhead school-level initiatives in mathematics and statistics education, contributing to curriculum development and teaching practices.
- Conduct Impactful Research: Pursue a program of research or scholarship in mathematics education, disseminating findings through publications and presentations.
- Provide Academic Leadership: Contribute to the Mathematics and Statistics Learning Centre's services, mentor students and staff, and participate in school planning and outreach activities.
You may be a great fit if: You are an experienced educator and researcher with a PhD in mathematics, statistics, or a related field, demonstrating excellence in teaching and curriculum development, with a growing national or international reputation in mathematics education or the scholarship of teaching and learning.
You may also: Have a proven track record of excellence in teaching mathematics or statistics at the undergraduate level. Demonstrate contributions to mathematics education research or scholarship of teaching and learning. Possess strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and work independently. Have experience coordinating large undergraduate subjects and leading educational innovation. Show familiarity with educational technology and the Australian secondary school mathematics curriculum.
