The Role

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy to strengthen our academic and teaching provision in this specialist area. You will join a collegial and forward-thinking team of academics and practitioners committed to interdisciplinary collaboration, high-quality education, and excellence in professional practice. You will provide expertise in occupational therapy as well as contribute to the broader curriculum across our Life and Health Sciences portfolio as appropriate.

This appointment comes at an exciting phase of development as we expand our allied health provision and education pathways in healthcare and health science. We are particularly interested in practitioners with experience in working with older adults in areas such as falls and dementia. Furthermore, we are interested in those with experience in academia who may be looking for a new challenge in an evolving team with the opportunity for development and impact.Our programmes are supported by an active research environment within subjects allied to medicine and a strong commitment to evidence-informed education and specialist therapy an clinical suites and laboratories to provide and inspiring environment to work in.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Delivering teaching that encompasses employer and skills-led experiential learning and professional development.
  • Engaging in high-quality teaching and learning, supporting an excellent student experience and environment for development and success.
  • Engaging in research and/or knowledge transfer which demonstrably impacts on practice, generates external income, and contributes to the University’s Enabling Strategies.
  • Contributing to curriculum development to ensure that the University’s education portfolio is innovative, attractive and supports students from induction to employment.
  • Contributing to practice based learning and clinical placement provision to ensure learners are fit for professional practice in their field, utilising external networks.

The successful candidate will have skills and experience in

  • A demonstrable commitment to research-led or research-informed teaching.
  • Effective planning and delivery skills in high-quality, supportive teaching.
  • A strong understanding of disciplines closely aligned with Occupational Therapy.
  • Professional accreditation with HCPC.
  • Preferable experience in working with older adults and/or experience in academia
