Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Social Work

Social Work at UWE Bristol is part of the interdisciplinary School of Health and Social Wellbeing, offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes approved by Social Work England and delivered across the South-West. Our team is dedicated to providing high-quality teaching, an excellent student experience, and impactful research that connects academic understanding to contemporary social work practice.

Due to our continued growth, we are seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join our Social Work academic team. You will contribute primarily to pre-registration and CPD education based at our Glenside Campus, with some travel across the South West to support the Step-Up to Social Work programme and other CPD contracts.

You will be an engaging and innovative educator, qualified to Postgraduate Diploma or Master’s level and registered with Social Work England.

Bringing a strong commitment to teaching, learning and student support, you will inspire and engage students in their professional development, helping them build the knowledge, skills and confidence to achieve their career aspirations. Drawing on your experience of social work practice, you will demonstrate a clear understanding of the contemporary challenges and opportunities within the profession. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential, as you will work collaboratively with colleagues to create an inclusive, supportive and stimulating learning environment where both staff and students can thrive.

This is predominantly a teaching-focused post, involving:

  • Delivery and development of high-quality teaching and learning
  • Academic personal tutoring and practice education support
  • Module leadership (for Senior Lecturers) and curriculum development. There may also be opportunities to contribute to research and knowledge exchange activities aligned with your expertise.

If you are passionate about developing the next generation of social workers and contributing to a dynamic academic community, we would be really interested to hear from you.

This post is based at our Glenside Campus. We offer a wide range of employee benefits including progressive pay rates, very generous annual leave and career average pension schemes as well as retail savings.

We particularly encourage applications from global majority candidates as we are currently under-represented in this area, however all appointments are made strictly on individual merit. As a Disability Confident employer we welcome applications from those who identify as having a disability.

If you would like to speak to us to find out more about this role please contact Lucy2.watkins@uwe.ac.uk.

Interviews are scheduled to take place at our Glenside Campus on a date that is still to be confirmed. This is a full-time, permanent post. This role is campus based with some opportunity to work from home, according to programme needs.
