Summary:
Applications are invited for the inaugural position of Lecturer of Service-Learning at the National University of Singapore, a position that is concurrent with the appointment of Director of Service-Learning.
Description:
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide academic and operational leadership to the NUS Programme of Service Learning. This Programme provides quality structured reflexive learning through impactful and sustained community services for 4,000 students every year, addressing real community needs, fostering civic responsibility and personal growth, while deepening understanding of social issues. The current suite of NUS Service Learning courses comprises GEN2050, GEN2060, GEN2061, GEN2062, and GEN2070, together supporting the well-being of vulnerable children and youths, seniors and vulnerable families.
The academic responsibilities are strategic planning and thought leadership to ensure quality service-learning programmes for learners. This includes training and management of the academic team, and oversight of academic processes. The operational responsibilities are strategic planning and thought leadership of the operational dimension to ensure impact and value for community partners and service recipients. This includes strategic stakeholder management and communications.
The successful candidate will be appointed on a full-time, renewable contract on the NUS Educator Track scheme.
Team structure. The position will manage a combined team of about 15 persons, including instructors and administrators. The appointee will work closely with the Director of Academics (Service Learning), and report to an overseeing Director of NUS Cares or equivalent.
Secondary responsibilities. The secondary responsibilities of this position include providing leadership to integrated strategic initiatives under NUS Cares for student clubs, staff and alumni.
Start date. Immediate, but negotiable.
Qualifications
PhD from a top university in any field of study, with demonstrated competency in academic leadership of service-learning programmes at the university level, together with excellent track record of team management, and stakeholder management of ministry, agency and community partners at scale.
