STONY BROOK UNIVERSITY invites applications for a one- to two-year, renewable, non-tenure track lecturer position in the Department of Anthropology. This is a 10-month academic year appointment, ideally with a start date of September 1, 2024. Teaching duties will focus on high-enrollment courses in introductory courses in archaeology and biological anthropology; as well as high-enrollment courses on food and climate. Stony Brook University is a research university with a strong commitment to curricular innovation; thus, the position also includes opportunities for curriculum development and participation in team-based interdisciplinary educational initiatives such as vertically integrated projects (VIP) in support of new initiatives in human responses to climate change.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. or M.A. (foreign equivalent or higher) in Anthropology or a related field. Previous experience teaching courses in introduction to archaeology, introduction to biological anthropology or human origins, food habits and culture, and/or human responses to climate.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience as Instructor of Record for one or more of the courses listed above. Evidence of interdisciplinary collaboration and engagement. Familiarity with archaeological science and methods.
