Professor Mark Alfano has been awarded an ARC Future Fellowship that commences in 2026. The School of Humanities at Macquarie University is seeking to employ a Lecturer to support the research program associated with the fellowship and to cover his teaching for four years. The role follows a 60 to 40 research and teaching split.
The role
The position holder will contribute to research and teaching within the discipline of Philosophy in the School of Humanities. The research duties include data collection, data analysis, agent based modelling of social epistemic networks, and the writing of research articles that form part of the fellowship program. The teaching duties involve co-teaching in discipline units. Likely areas of contribution include epistemology, philosophy of language, political philosophy, critical thinking, and ethics. The role calls for a candidate who is versatile and adaptable.
About you (Selection Criteria)
- PhD in philosophy
- A strong record of research publications
- Teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: epistemology,
- philosophy of language, political philosophy, critical thinking, and ethics.
- Ability to work collegially in teams
- Data collection and analysis skills
