About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an appropriately experienced individual to become part of the subject team for the Psychology and Social Science PGCE. The successful candidate will engage in relevant teaching and supervision of students for the PGCEs and School Direct programmes in Psychology and Social Science. There may be opportunities to engage in research over time depending on the candidate’s particular interests.

You will support the development of the Psychology and Social Science PGCEs, including the design and delivery of the curriculum for the Psychology and Social Science PGCEs and you will be using a range of monitoring and evaluation techniques to assess the effectiveness of course/programme delivery. In addition, you will work with schools/colleges and the relevant IOE departments to allocate students to school experience placements.

About you

The successful candidate will have a good first degree, or equivalent experience, in an area relevant to Psychology or Social Science education. You will also have a masters’ (or higher) degree in education or related field (either complete or nearing completion) and have a Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent.

In addition, you will have experience of working effectively with student teachers and/or other school colleagues to support their professional development, alongside a working knowledge of ITE programmes and have a good knowledge of a wide range of learning and teaching approaches suited to the learning needs of postgraduate students.

Due to the nature of the duties, a DBS check will be required.
