Overview

The Department of Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences (ADVS) at Utah State University invites applications for a Lecturer position with a primary emphasis on hands-on instruction for the Veterinary Technology Associate of Science degree program. This academic year appointment with a 95% teaching and 5% service role is based on USU's main campus in Logan, Utah. The successful candidate will play a central role in delivering practical, skills-based training designed to prepare students for the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) and for professional practice as credentialed veterinary technicians.

This lecturer position focuses on laboratory and clinical instruction across veterinary technical skills, including companion animal care, nursing techniques, clinical laboratory procedures, animal handling, and large animal clinical activities. The lecturer will also oversee teaching laboratories and instructional clinical spaces and coordinate experiential learning activities with affiliated university facilities.

The program features an innovative hybrid structure, with didactic coursework delivered asynchronously online and hands-on technical instruction conducted in person at multiple sites, including USU's Logan and Blanding campuses.

The curriculum is designed as a stackable pathway. Students may complete a veterinary assistant certificate at partner institutions and articulate those credits into the A.S. program, and graduates may continue into USU's B.S. degree in Veterinary Science. USU currently offers the only Veterinary Technology A.S. degree in Utah, underscoring its leadership role in veterinary education statewide.

This position offers a unique opportunity to join a growing academic initiative within a rapidly expanding veterinary sciences environment. Utah State University has recently established a new College of Veterinary Medicine, with a state-of-the-art facility scheduled for completion in Summer 2026.

This is a 9-month academic year appointment. Opportunities for summer teaching may be available contingent upon programmatic needs and available funding.
